How do I make good compost the easy way at home?
We all routinely generate compostable wastes, including kitchen scraps, soiled paper towels and napkins, toilet roll tubes, unwanted documents, cut flowers and plant trimmings.
These wastes can be recycled at home into compost for your plants and garden. You can make good compost with less hard work using the right type of compost equipment.
Systems that need regular mixing
Regular mixing is necessary for composting to progress well in compost bins and tumblers. The wastes need to be aerated by manual mixing to supplement the supply of air through their vents. Infrequent mixing can cause composting to slow, and odours to form when oxygen runs out.
Self-aerating composting
Unlike basic ventilation with air holes or slots in compost bins and tumblers, Bioverter is equipped with regulator vents which ensure a Goldilocks flow of air - not too much nor too little. The air flows through the waste matter to supply all the oxygen microbes need. You don’t have to mix anymore when composting with Bioverter.
Feed & Collect composting
Bioverter’s vertical design allows compost to naturally flow out of its insulated space (where composting occurs) and into its collection compartment at the base of the unit. Gravity helps create a flow through system. You simply put wastes in at the top and collect compost from the bottom.
Harvesting made easy
With regular feeding, Bioverter can yield a steady supply of compost in two forms - solids (similar to regular composting output) and a unique juice. All richness in your wastes are captured in them. Both products descend into convenient slide-out collectors at the base of the unit.
You harvest only solids with compost bins and tumblers, since these equipment don’t have the means to collect any liquid that may form. The solids are usually compacted at the bottom of compost bins so digging them out can be arduous, especially through access doors. The solids are extracted from tumblers into a catcher which is sold as an accessory.
Bioverter’s outputs are separated for easy, periodic harvesting. Harvest your juice regularly to prevent overflow. Solids gather in the collection basket at a slower rate, so you harvest them less often. Use both products to nourish your plants and garden.
Home composting, including harvesting, is made simple. What's left is for you to feed the microbes regularly and let Bioverter compost for you.
